About this campaign
And the king will answer them, “Truly I tell you, just as you did it to one of the least of these who are members of my family, you did it to me.” – Matthew 25:40
This campaign is an urgent effort to bring an immediate end to the genocide in Darfur.
In numerous conversations in recent weeks and months, evangelical leaders have discovered profound unity on this crisis. Believing that God was calling us to act, a number of us began talking about how we could respond together to this call. Those conversations led us, in partnership with the Save Darfur Coalition, to create Evangelicals for Darfur, a campaign that brings together media, web, and grassroots advocacy to call for an end to the senseless suffering in Darfur.
We are calling this effort Evangelicals for Darfur not to exclude any other faith groups, but to recognize the special impact evangelical Christians – from across the political spectrum – can have on this crisis.
A broad and diverse group of evangelical leaders were eager to be a part of this project.
In a preliminary conversation between Jim Wallis and Richard Land about this effort, Dr. Land said, “Jim, if people see evangelical leaders like you and me speaking together on this issue it could light a fire in America and give the President the power to do what he would really like to do.” In the midst of our painful awareness of the lives being lost every day in Darfur, we continue to hope and pray that Dr. Land’s words will prove to be true.
We thank you for visiting this site and we hope you, your church, your family, and your colleagues will decide to join in this important effort. We are deeply encouraged by the broad spectrum of Christians that are speaking out together on this issue. For in matters of life and death, there is no left or right, there is only right and wrong. Together we can help make a life-saving difference for our brothers and sisters in Darfur.
“Which of these three, do you think, was a neighbor to the man who fell into the hands of the robbers?” He said, “The one who showed him mercy.” Jesus said to him, “Go and do likewise.” – Luke 10:36-37
